Job description

Hello! We're Ocasta - a friendly team who create things for apps, web and everything in-between. We work towards building simple solutions to complex problems across Android, iOS, server and the web.

 

Your role as the Lead Android developer at Ocasta would be to ensure our Android apps are great! We build apps for ourselves and our customers having a mix of product and project work, from short three week prototyping projects to multi-year business critical tools used by our customers - including award winning till systems, eLearning games and our own Oplift product suite. Working together you'll have the chance to influence the projects we work on and technologies we use.

 

You will be involved in all parts of the development process; product inception, design and development. 

Responsibilities

  • Writing Kotlin (obviously!)
  • Helping deliver the best in Android User Experience
  • Keeping an eye on current mobile technology trends and highlight opportunities
  • Helping keep the build system running and up to date (we use Drone)
  • Setting up automated tests
  • Designing how our projects should be structured
  • Helping decide on the best libraries and approaches for projects and using them
  • Continuing to learn and improve
  • Supporting and bug fixing existing projects
  • Working with the design team to ensure our apps look great and are easy to use
  • Working with the server team on API design
  • Sharing thoughts on designs and concepts
  • Doing code reviews - helping you and other team members write better code
  • Giving feedback in stand ups
  • Improving our process in retrospectives
  • Estimating tasks and user stories
  • Demoing the projects you've worked on to the other teams

Requirements

If you are an experienced Android developer with good Kotlin skills and are able to learn quickly then we're confident you'll pick up (and help us improve) how we do things. Any experience with Jenkins, Drone or old school Android Java is a benefit but not a requirement.

 

There are no strict educational qualifications required - we'd just like to see what you've done that demonstrates your ability and eagerness.

 

Salary would range between £38,000 - £50,000 as we're open to varying levels of experience.


Unfortunately as a small company we are not in a position to help with visa or work permit applications so we cannot consider non-EU applicants at this time.
