Back-end Software Engineer (NodeJS GoLang/Go) £35k-50k Remote UK

Job description

Salary: 35k-50k

We are looking to add an experienced developer to our server team. You will be designing and developing micro-service and serverless based enterprise level software using languages such as GoLang and NodeJS with MongoDB and SQL databases. We have a mix of product and project work building critical business tools used by our Blue Chip customers. We want people who are aware of latest software trends and are comfortable learning new skills.

We don't mind where in the UK you are based as we offer the opportunity for our team to work remotely.

You will be involved in all parts of the development process; product inception, design and development.

If these look like the sort of things you'd like to be doing everyday then get in touch. If you can do it now that's great otherwise we look forward to teaching you.

  • Write and maintain GoLang and NodeJS code
  • Use MongoDB and SQL databases
  • Create automated tests
  • Use AWS features such as SNS, SQS and Lambda
  • Work closely with other developers to take projects through to production

  • Support and bug fix new and existing projects
  • Share thoughts on designs and concepts
  • Perform code reviews - helping you and other team members write better code
  • Help improve our process through retrospectives
  • Participate in sprint planning
  • Demo the projects you've worked on to the rest of Ocasta

About Ocasta

Hello! We're Ocasta - a friendly team who create apps, web and everything in-between. We work towards building simple solutions to complex problems across Android, iOS, server and the web.

To support your progression we'll sit down for structured monthly one-to-ones with agreeable actions for both of us. Everyone has a personal improvement budget for conferences, books and learning.

To allow for a better work-life balance we offer flexible hours, including leaving at 12:00 on a Friday after completing 35 hours through the week. For personal wellbeing we offer private healthcare and mental health support. We are a flat organization; everyone's opinions are heard and shape the direction of the company. We have a weekly fika where the whole team can sit down and chat about anything (with vegan cake). To help burn off that cake we're in the cycle to work scheme and get 50% off gym membership at Pure Gym.

We offer twice yearly bonuses based on Ocasta's performance as a team. To plan for your future - pensions are matched up to 3%. If you're thinking about expanding your family we have enhanced maternity, paternity & adoption pay, or Pawternity if you want to re-home a rescue animal 🐶. We'll provide you with a competitive salary based on your experience.

We recognise the diversity problem in the digital industry and support local schemes like CodebarSpring Forward and BDMA work placements. You'll join us in promoting change in underrepresented minorities in technology and encouraged to give suggestions and improvements in how we can help.

I encourage anyone applying to read some of the Five minutes with... series of posts we have talking to the Ocastars about why they enjoy working here and their interests!

Just so you know - we have a collaborative hiring process, so other members of our team will be able to see your application. You can request a data correction or to be deleted from our database at any time. Otherwise after 365 days we'll automatically remove you from our system.

Thank you,
